And with some pleasant weather for the middle of December, it’s the perfect destination for winter vacations and family holiday activities. San Antonio is buzzing with activity during the holidays, so there are plenty more can't-miss holiday events to build your perfect holiday vacation itinerary.
Kick off the Christmas season by celebrating at the parade
Right after Turkey Day is one of a beloved San Antonio tradition: the Ford Holiday River Parade. The parade is a one-hour procession with 28 festive floats that winds along the River Walk, along with a lighting ceremony that showcases over 100,000 Christmas lights! And, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joining in the festivities. Tickets here: https://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/events/ford-holiday-river-parade
See the magic of downtown San Antonio
As a new tradition, more than five blocks of Houston Street are transformed into an absolutely magical holiday experience. Take your time to walk through all of the beautiful multicolored twinkling lights and elaborate decorations, enjoy some special entertainers (we hope you love Christmas carols), and snag some last-minute holiday deals from restaurants and shops. They don’t have the dates yet, but check back here https://www.visitsanantonio.com/holidays/holidays-on-houston/ to see what’s on the calendar soon!
Catch a spirited Christmas play
Want to get into the holiday spirit while also supporting local talent? Catch two different exciting shows at the San Pedro Playhouse this December! Bring your friends and family to captivating performances in the cozy glow of Christmas lights. It’s the perfect way to make some new memories!
Visit Santa at the Zoo
Come to the San Antonio Zoo for some special surprises! Walk along the wildlife trails, this time with Christmas lights (including a 124-foot tunnel!), tell Santa what you want for Christmas, and sing some carols at the holiday sing-a-long express.
There may be even more surprises, but you’ll have to go see for yourself to find out.
